We are seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) with at least five years of experience to lead and support the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems across our renewable and energy efficiency portfolio. This role involves both design-office and field-level engagement with solar farms, wind projects, BESS installations, microgrid systems, and electrical infrastructure upgrades.
The ideal candidate will bring solid technical expertise, project engineering capability, and a strong understanding of Canadian electrical codes, interconnection standards, and renewable energy system integration.
Reporting to the Vice President of Construction and Operations, the Electrical Engineer is a vital member of our project team. This role requires a minimum of three days per week in the office at our Halifax, Nova Scotia headquarters.
What you Will be Doing
Design & Engineering:
• Lead electrical design for renewable energy systems (solar PV, wind, BESS, microgrids), including medium and low voltage systems, grounding, protection, and controls.
• Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and layout drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Size and specify electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, inverters, protective relays, metering, and communication systems.
• Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination) using tools like ETAP, PSSE, or PSCAD.
Project Engineering & Technical Oversight:
• Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, procurement packages, and submittal evaluations.
• Interface with utilities for interconnection applications, grid compliance studies, and technical inquiries.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and SCADA/communications engineers to ensure system integration.
• Support permitting and compliance with CSA, CEC, IEEE, UL, NEC, and other applicable standards.
Construction & Commissioning Support:
• Support construction activities including RFIs, submittals, change management, and quality inspections.
• Review and approve shop drawings and redlines; support site walkdowns and commissioning checklists.
• Assist in FAT, SAT, energization planning, and final as-built documentation.
Client & Team Collaboration:
• Collaborate with project managers and business development teams to support technical aspects of proposals and project delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers, EITs, and drafters, contributing to professional development and knowledge sharing.

What You Bring to Our Team
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province or territory.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design and project execution.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, PSSE), and MS Office Suite.
• Deep understanding of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), utility interconnection requirements, and renewable energy equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Eligible to work in Canada; valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Assets:
• Experience with grid-connected and off-grid renewable energy systems (PV, wind, BESS).
• Knowledge of BESS control systems, inverter-based resource (IBR) modeling, and DER integration.
• Familiarity with SCADA, metering, protection & control schemes, and utility-grade infrastructure.
• Field experience with commissioning, testing, or inspection of electrical systems.
• Exposure to energy efficiency retrofits, ASHRAE audits, or M&V practices.
• PMP, LEED AP, or other relevant certifications.

Where You Will Collaborate
We offer a hybrid work model with the expectation to come into the office three days a week where collaboration and idea generation happens at our Halifax hub. You’ll work remotely when you want focus time, we all need that sometimes to balance life and work.
